The Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science
The DeMatteis School was ranked 32nd among undergraduate Engineering programs at schools that do not grant doctoral degrees in Engineering, according to U.S. News & World Report 2019. The DeMatteis School, which enrolls over 750 students, educates and inspires students to become engineers and computer scientists who are creative, entrepreneurial, and prepared to tackle critical global challenges and make a difference in the world.

The DeMatteis School’s Co-op Program has partnered with more than 150 prominent engineering and technology firms to offer eligible students valuable real-world work experience. Participating companies hire students after the fall or spring semester of their junior year to work on salary for a six- to eight-month period in a field related to their degree. After the completion of the co-op experience, students return to Hofstra to complete their degree requirements.

Engineering and Computer Science faculty work with students on advanced research projects in the school’s cutting-edge laboratories, including a robotics and advanced manufacturing lab that features a 3D printer, cell and tissue engineering lab, big data lab, ultrasound research lab, gaming and graphics lab, linux and computer graphics lab, design and fabrication lab, civil and environmental engineering lab, production studio, and aerodynamics and transport phenomena lab.
